The purpose of the Sunderland Children’s Trust Workforce Innovation and Reform Strategy and Implementation Plan is to drive the development of a world-class workforce for children and young people, linked to the Every Child Matters, 5 outcomes and Sunderland’s Children and Young People’s Plan

This builds upon a previous workforce strategy approved by the Sunderland Children’s Trust in January 2007 and provides the drive towards the Children’s Trust having in place, a world-class children and young people’s workforce in line with current Government plans.

The Local Strategic Partnership and Children’s Trust are committed to “Working together to improve life chances and aspirations for each child and young person in Sunderland” and they acknowledge the importance of a clear workforce strategy that is set within the context of current and emerging regional and national policy.
This strategy has at its heart a fundamental belief in prevention and early intervention through integrated working. This will be achieved through the collective commitment of all partners to collaborative action to meet the challenges ahead.

The strategy recognises that in order to be able to offer the highest quality support to children, young people and their families, it is necessary to develop an integrated approach to that work and the skill development of the children’s workforce.
