BEING HEALTHY
A group of 5 - 11 year olds at Young Asian Voices have worked together to come up with a list of things which explains what 'Being Healthy' means. Read the list and see if you agree
Good food like vegetables, fruit, rice and milk
- Exercise like running, PE, keep fit, playing sport, swimming
- Don’t smoke, no alcohol, no bad drugs
- Health Centres to get medicines and tablets
- Being healthy in your head
- Being brainy
- Getting enough sleep
But not all children in Sunderland are healthy
- some children are unwell
- some children don't feel healthy in their heads
- some children are overweight
- some children don't do sport or exercise
- some children smoke, drink or take drugs.
To make things better Sunderland Children's Trust will
- give children healthier school meal choices
- help children be healthy in the head
- make sure children do 2 hours sport or exercise each week
- help children to stop smoking, drinking and taking drugs.

Healthy Schools Survey
Healthy Schools asked some year 6 pupils in Sunderland to fill in a survey this summer term about health. The survey asked lots of questions on things like eating, exercising and feelings. So, if lots of you put that you want a better school dining room, or that you enjoy cycling to school, the school will know about it and they can try to make things better.
We will be showing the results here soon, so watch this space. But remember, if you filled in a survey, it can’t be linked to you because your name was not on the survey. And thank you very much if you did the survey. We are very grateful!
